Best Kept Shared, a Dubai-based fashion startup, has acquired peer-to-peer fashion resale marketplace Bazaara.
Although the financial details of the deal were not disclosed, the two firms announced the acquisition in a statement today.
Best Kept Shared runs UAE’s leading peer-to-peer designer rental marketplace. It was founded in 2023 by Kelly Power and Sophie Kjøller and claims to be building an Airbnb of luxury fashion.
Bazaara was founded in 2021 by Alyssa Mariano. It previously raised $230,000 in a pre-seed round led by Flat6Labs UAE in early 2023.
The acquisition will help Best Kept Shared expand its user base and inventory. A statement noted that the 40,000 users of Bazaara will transition to Best Kept Shared. The website of Bazaara is already redirecting users.
The statement further added that the move will “integrate Bazaara’s extensive network with Best Kept Shared’s existing infrastructure, providing customers with an even broader range of options for buying, selling, and renting high-quality fashion items.”
Power and Kjøller, co-founders of Best Kept Shared, commenting on the acquisition, said, “This acquisition is a significant milestone in our journey to revolutionize the luxury fashion industry, expanding our market reach and helping more women to access luxury fashion without the designer price tag or environmental impact.”
Alyssa Mariano, founder and CEO of Bazaara, said, “We are thrilled to be joining Best Kept Shared in this exciting venture.
“Our shared vision for promoting sustainable fashion and empowering our communities aligns perfectly. This partnership will allow our users to continue on their resale fashion journey while also having the option of renting and lending.”
She has joined Best Kept Shared as an advisor following the acquisition.
