Basil Rahmy, CEO of Egypt’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA), reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to empowering young entrepreneurs through hands-on university engagement.
From free awareness sessions to startup training programs, MSMEDA is actively collaborating with Egyptian universities, public and private, to equip students with the tools they need to turn ideas into real businesses. The agency focuses on both financial services (like funding and project financing) and non-financial support (like training, mentorship, and feasibility studies).
Speaking on the activities of the agency, Rahmy said, “The agency continuously seeks to strengthen cooperation with Egyptian universities, both public and private, across all governorates.”
“Our goal is to guide youth on how to properly achieve their ambitions and establish projects that align with their academic specializations and practical knowledge.”
Rahmy emphasized the importance of motivating youth toward self-employment, which often offers greater financial rewards and career flexibility than traditional job paths. MSMEDA also encourages students to take part in training programs and seminars run in partnership with universities to help them gain confidence and business acumen.
“This opens new horizons toward a sustainable and prosperous professional future,” he added.
April’s Seminar Series Brings MSMEDA to University Doorsteps
Dr. Raafat Abbas, Deputy CEO of MSMEDA, announced a lineup of interactive entrepreneurship seminars this April across various institutions:
- Sohag University: April 14–17, multiple sessions at the International Conference Center, Faculty of Science, and Faculty of Commerce.
- Fayoum and Zagazig Universities: April 14.
- New Valley University & Higher Institute of Social Work: April 15–16.
MSMEDA is also diving deeper into Egypt’s startup ecosystem by:
- Participating in the Biotechnology Business Incubator competition at Ain Shams University’s Faculty of Agriculture.
- Showcasing its entrepreneurship services during Environmental Week at Menoufia University.
“These seminars and activities will continue throughout the year in cooperation with all Egyptian universities, both public and private, aiming to maximize benefits for university students,” said Dr. Abbas.
With this initiative, MSMEDA is actively reshaping how youth across Egypt and the MENA region view entrepreneurship, giving them real pathways to build careers outside the traditional job market armed with practical tools, access to funding, and a clear roadmap for success.
