PoliCloud Raises €7.5M to Expand Sovereign Cloud Globally

PoliCloud, the France-based provider of sovereign high-performance cloud (HPC) infrastructure, has closed its seed round at €7.5 million, setting the stage for global expansion.

The round was led by Global Ventures, the MENA-based venture capital firm, with participation from Inria, OneRagtime, MI8 Limited, and a network of individual investors.

Launched at the World AI Festival in Cannes in February 2025, PoliCloud is focused on building secure, efficient, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure tailored to public institutions and enterprises with data sovereignty needs.

The funding will be used to grow its operations across Europe, expand its technical team, and accelerate market entry in high-demand sovereign cloud regions.

PoliCloud: Distributed Cloud for Governments and Public Institutions

At its core, the cloud’s architecture is designed for digital sovereignty. It leverages a distributed cloud model built in collaboration with Hivenet, enabling strong data localization, enhanced security, and environmental efficiency, all key factors for governments and regulated industries.

“We’re building cloud infrastructure that meets the strictest standards of sovereignty, performance, and sustainability,” said a spokesperson from PoliCloud.

With governments increasingly demanding local control over data and infrastructure, PoliCloud is positioning itself as a European champion in the sovereign cloud space, an area traditionally dominated by non-European hyperscalers.
