QU Launches 3rd Engineering, Technology Congress

The College of Engineering, Qatar University, has commenced the Third Global Congress on Engineering and Technology. This would not have happened without the patronage of the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

The congress, slated to run till December 7, encompasses the 15th Global Conference on Energy Applications, Social Robotics, and Resilience in Mobility and Logistics: Challenges and Opportunities.

The Minister of Environment and Climate Change, H E Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani, in his opening speech, expressed pride in QU’s organization of the conference.
He said: “As a leading academic institution in the region, Qatar University recognises the paramount importance of this congress for exchanging opinions and ideas. It serves as a testament to our commitment to innovation, collaboration, and the advancement of technology.”

The minister recognized the challenges facing the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, emphasizing the need to preserve natural resources and foster a culture of innovation for a better future. He remarked, “Our challenges—whether environmental, engineering, or technological—are not just academic concerns but essential aspects of our daily lives. Engineering and technology are transforming sustainable transportation with highly efficient electric and hybrid vehicles. Additionally, advancements in modern irrigation techniques play a crucial role in reducing harmful emissions and improving fuel efficiency.”

Dr. Omar Al Ansari, President of QU, buttressing the minister’s point, said: “The timing of the Third Global Congress is ideal for exploring progress in energy applications and related developments aimed at ensuring sustainability and mitigating environmental impacts. This also includes advancements in other engineering fields, such as social robotics and resilience in mobility and logistics.”

Speaking on expectations from the congress, Dr. Khalid Kamal Naji, Dean of the College of Engineering, stated, “The congress features plenary sessions and keynote lectures on diverse topics, including energy applications, social robotics, resilience in mobility, and logistics. We expect this event to facilitate the exchange of technical information, the sharing of high-quality research, and the presentation of new policies.”
