Are You Scared AI Will Take Your Job?

Are You Scared AI Will Take Your Job?

Imagine waking up one morning to an AI generated email that reads:

“Dear Employee, we regret to inform you that your role has been automated. Your services are no longer required. Thank you for your contributions.”

Sounds like a nightmare, right?

With AI advancing at an alarming rate, many people fear this could soon be a reality. We’ve seen robots flipping burgers, chatbots handling customer service, and AI-generating articles (yes, even this one could have been written by one, but it’s not!).

Should you be worried?

Will AI really take over all our jobs?

AI is transforming industries, and yes, some jobs will disappear. However, history shows that technology rarely wipes out employment. It simply reshapes it.

Take, for example, the Industrial Revolution, when machines started replacing manual labor in textile factories. Workers panicked. But what happened? New industries emerged, and people adapted. The same thing happened with the rise of the internet. This is just the next wave of change.

According to the World Economic Forum, AI will disrupt 85 million jobs by 2025, but it will also create 97 million new ones. That’s a net gain of 12 million jobs!

So, instead of just asking, “Will AI take my job?” a better question is: “How can I prepare for the jobs it will create?” Before you begin the brainstorming, calm down and digest this table below

Jobs Most at Risk vs. Jobs AI Can’t Replace

Let’s be real, some jobs are more vulnerable than others. If your work is repetitive and doesn’t require much creativity or decision-making, you might begin preparing to go extinct.

S/NHigh-Risk Jobs (AI might take over)Jobs AI Can’t Replace (You’re safe… for now)
1.Manufacturing Line WorkersCreative Jobs (Writers, Designers, Filmmakers)
2.Proofreaders/TranslatorsEntrepreneurs & Business Leaders
3.Data Entry ClerksSpecialists & Engineers
4.TelemarketersHealthcare Professionals
5.Cashiers Teachers & Counselors

If your job involves repeating the same task daily, AI might eventually step in. But here’s the good news: Jobs that require creativity, human interaction, emotional intelligence, and critical thinking are much harder to automate.

AI Isn’t Just Taking Jobs. It’s Creating Them

Instead of seeing this technology as a job-stealer, think of it as a job-changer. New AI-powered careers are emerging, and companies are desperately looking for people to fill them. Some jobs that didn’t even exist 10 years ago include:

  • AI trainers: Teaching AI how to respond correctly because it needs training too!
  • Prompt engineers: This is a growing field of engineers who are responsible for designing prompts that guide generated responses.
  • AI ethics consultants: These professionals make sure the technology is used responsibly.
  • AI maintenance technicians: Just like mechanics fix cars, someone has to fix AI systems when they break.

And the MENA region is not lagging behind. AI is projected to add $320 billion to the Middle East’s economy by 2030. Governments in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt are investing billions into such industries. New jobs will be created, but only for those willing to adapt.

Should you be worried? The answer depends on whether you’re willing to adapt. Yes, AI will change the job market, but it won’t replace those who evolve with it. Instead of panicking, start upgrading your skills or mastering those human skills that AI can’t replicate.
