A central announcement was the launch of the JAZARI ROOT Institute, which will act as the foundational pillar of the broader Al Jazari Institutes initiative. The programme is designed to establish a national network of AI centers of excellence, positioning artificial intelligence as a strategic lever for its economic, social, and technological development.

Several cooperation agreements and strategic partnerships were also signed between the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform and a mix of national and international ministries and institutions. The agreements aim to improve coordination, promote interoperability, and accelerate execution of the country’s “Morocco IA 2030” strategy.

The government said the partnerships will support objectives in digital research, innovation, and technology development, while strengthening Morocco’s ambition to emerge as a regional hub for artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.

Why Morocco AI Matters to MENA

Its AI Made in Morocco initiative signals a broader shift across the MENA region toward nationally coordinated AI strategies. As countries compete to attract talent, investment, and research capacity, their focus on structured AI institutions and public-private collaboration mirrors similar efforts in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt. The move strengthens North Africa’s position in the regional AI landscape and highlights growing opportunities for cross-border research, startup expansion, and policy alignment.
