His Excellency Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Mohammed bin Ali bin Mohammed Al Mannai, participated in a panel discussion titled “Qatar’s Plan for the Digital Future,” on the final day of Web Summit Qatar 2024. 

The discussion centered on recent advancements in the ICT sector and Qatar’s digital innovation strategy for the next five years.

The panel also emphasized the contributions of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and the private sector to the Summit’s success and their role in enhancing Qatar’s national digital economy.

Minister Al Mannai highlighted the importance of Digital Agenda 2030 in fostering a knowledge-based economy and advancing digital transformation across various industries. He outlined the six pillars of the Digital Agenda 2030—digital infrastructure, digital government, digital economy, digital technologies, digital innovation, and digital society—and discussed how these elements will drive technology adoption, economic growth, innovation, and exceptional government services while supporting societal development in a digital era

His Excellency emphasized that the Digital Agenda 2030 is pivotal in positioning Qatar as a global technology leader. By integrating state-of-the-art digital technologies like 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), digital twins, cloud computing, and big data. This advancement supports the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy, aiming to cultivate a diverse, competitive knowledge-based economy that fosters private sector growth through innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Digital Agenda 2030 is designed to enhance the efficiency of the digital economy and society, accelerating economic transformation and competitiveness. By implementing innovative digital strategies that promote inclusivity and sustainable growth, the agenda aims to build a prosperous future for Qatar through comprehensive digital service transformation.

Commenting on green technology, His Excellency noted that Qatar’s digital future is central to its national development plans. The country is well-positioned to leverage clean technologies, particularly given its significant renewable energy resources, such as solar power.

He also highlighted that the adoption of AI, cloud computing, and big data will improve operational efficiency and reduce costs across various sectors, enhancing overall effectiveness.
