Funch secures $500K to scale its AI-powered lunch subscription in the UAE, offering flexible, affordable meals and cutting waste with smart logistics.
Funch, the UAE startup launched in 2025, has raised USD 500,000 in a pre-seed round led by Angelspark, with participation from a group of regional and international investors, including prominent names such as Mostafa Kandil, founder of Swvl, and Mahesh Murthy, a marketer.

Funch aims to “reinvent lunch” by offering a daily meal plan at AED 19/day with no delivery fees, and giving users the flexibility to skip, pause, or cancel at any time. Instead of a rigid weekly plan, the platform uses a credit-based system: users buy credits and spend them when needed, or activate auto-renewal to keep their account topped up.

What truly distinguishes Funch is its AI-native infrastructure. The startup leverages artificial intelligence to forecast demand, optimise delivery routes, rotate menus, reduce food waste, and streamline operations. According to co-founder and COO Ghada El Zanaty, this model helps reduce emissions and aligns with Dubai’s climate- and sustainability-driven urban plans.
Rather than treating lunch as a one-time transaction, Funch is positioning it as a managed, predictable service, a shift that could change how many office workers across the UAE approach their daily meals. The startup’s early traction and funding raise give it a real shot at scaling across Dubai and beyond.
Why Funch’s AI Lunch Model Matters for the UAE’s Foodtech Future
Funch’s success could encourage other foodtech and AI-powered services to emerge — especially those that tackle everyday challenges, such as affordability, convenience, sustainability, and operational efficiency. If all goes to plan, this could signal a shift in how lunch (and perhaps other daily services) are delivered to busy professionals in the region.
