Germany, Qatar Collaborate on Autonomous e-Mobility

H.E. Lothar Freischlader, Germany’s Ambassador to Qatar, and Thomas Triller, Deputy Head of Mission for Economic Affairs, engaged in discussions with representatives from the Autonomous e-Mobility Forum’s Executive Committee. This happened earlier this year.

This dialogue took place ahead of a multilateral conference hosted by Qatar’s Ministry of Transport, scheduled for April 30, 2024. Under the patronage of H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport, the event aims to serve as a pioneering platform for discussions on driverless e-mobility, a pressing global issue.

The diplomats provided insights as representatives of a leading technology exporter and traditional automotive nation, discussing Qatar’s potential as a hub for international dialogue and enhancing Qatari-German relations. Notably, the German embassy is the first diplomatic mission in Doha to adopt an electric vehicle for its staff.

Ambassador Freischlader, with extensive experience in the Middle East, highlighted Qatar’s success in hosting the FIFA World Cup as a pivotal moment for the nation. He emphasized the event’s role in showcasing Qatar’s organizational capabilities and infrastructure development to a global audience.

He pointed out that the World Cup not only underscored Qatar’s commitment to hosting high-profile events but also aligned with its ongoing efforts, exemplified by initiatives like the Doha Forum and Qatar Economic Forum, which have been part of the country’s strategy for years.
