Mubadala Joins $600M Nord Anglia Deal to Expand Education

Mubadala Investment Company is stepping into the education spotlight in a $600 million investment into global private education leader Nord Anglia Education.

To make the Nord Anglia deal a success, Mubadala is joining forces with EQT, Neuberger Berman, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Corporación Financiera Alba S.A., and Dubai Holding.

This significant move reflects the growing global demand for high-quality education, especially in fast-developing regions like the Gulf and wider MENA. With more than 80 schools across 33 countries, Nord Anglia currently serves over 90,000 students aged 2 to 18, making it one of the most influential players in the premium education space.

Alvin Teh, Head of Consumer Investments at Mubadala, highlighted why the deal made sense:

“There’s a rising demand for exceptional educational standards across the globe,” he said, adding that Nord Anglia’s personalised learning approach was a standout feature.

EQT’s Jack Hennessy echoed that sentiment, calling the deal a “major milestone” and praising Mubadala’s strategic perspective:

“Mubadala’s global outlook and investment expertise will strengthen efforts to fuel further innovation and growth at Nord Anglia,” Hennessy said.

Nord Anglia Deal: Premium Education Meets Strategic MENA Investment

From the UAE to the world, Mubadala’s latest move signals a broader shift in how sovereign wealth funds are leaning into long-term, impact-driven sectors. While the MENA region continues to invest in infrastructure, AI, and healthcare, education is increasingly seen as a future-proof bet and this deal is no exception.

Andrew Fitzmaurice, CEO of Nord Anglia, welcomed Mubadala on board saying: “Their backing will enhance the quality of education on offer, ultimately helping us cement our position as a global leader in international schooling.”

And it’s not hard to see why this is such a big play. As demand rises for premium, globally-minded education, particularly in regions like the Gulf, where international schools are in high demand, partnerships like this bring both capital and credibility to the sector.

Nord Anglia isn’t just growing, it’s setting the tone for what world-class education looks like. And with Mubadala in the mix, it’s clear that the UAE is playing a bigger role in shaping that future.
