Oman’s Ministry Launches Guide to Improve Digital Accessibility

The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCT), through the National Programme for Government Digital Transformation, Tahawul, has unveiled a new Digital Accessibility Guide aimed at promoting inclusive digital services.

This initiative is designed to ensure that all individuals, including those with disabilities and the elderly, have equal access to digital platforms. The guide encourages developers to implement digital accessibility standards in both mobile apps and websites, making services more user-friendly for everyone.

By introducing this guide, the Ministry hopes to support development teams in integrating accessibility from the early stages of design, ultimately cutting down the cost of later modifications.

The guide is intended for professionals across both public and private sectors, from project managers and UX/UI designers to developers, digital content creators, accessibility experts, and quality assurance engineers. It also serves as a valuable resource for decision-makers, senior leaders, and clients who collaborate with development teams on digital products.

In addition to offering step-by-step guidance, the document outlines methods for evaluating how accessible a platform is, helping teams build more inclusive digital experiences from the ground up.
