Qatar: Huawei Launches AI ICT Lab at HBKU

Huawei Technologies and Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) have reached a major collaboration milestone with the launch of the Huawei HBKU AI ICT Academy Lab. This facility represents their joint commitment to driving technological innovation and developing talent in artificial intelligence (AI) and Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

Prominent personalities including Dr. Mounir Hamdi, founding Dean of HBKU’s College of Science and Engineering, Ceo of Huawei Technologies LCC in Qatar amongst others graced the opening ceremony with their presence.

This milestone results from a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Huawei Technologies and HBKU, which established a strategic partnership blending Huawei’s ICT expertise with HBKU’s commitment to academic excellence and research-driven learning.

The Huawei HBKU AI ICT Academy Lab is designed as a center for innovation and practical learning. Equipped with highly developed infrastructure, the lab will offer specialized training programs, workshops, and certification courses to enhance the skills of students and industry professionals in the evolving fields of AI and ICT.

Enthusiastic about the collaboration, Dr. Mounir said “The inauguration of the Huawei HBKU AI ICT Academy Lab underscores our commitment to delivering world-class education and fostering innovation in collaboration with industry leaders like Huawei. This facility will equip our students and professionals with the skills needed to excel in the digital era.”
