The driverless ride-hailing service began on Yas Island and, according to Uber, is expected to expand beyond central zones in Abu Dhabi before year-end.
The permit behind this rollout is a world-first city-level licence for fully driverless (Level 4) commercial robotaxi operations outside the U.S. That gives this deployment a unique global significance.
