The partnership aims to upgrade du’s wireless network infrastructure to support ultra-broadband performance capable of reaching 10Gbps peak speeds in both indoor and outdoor environments. A key component of the initiative is the deployment of U6G technology, which enables ultra-large bandwidth aggregation and supports next-generation connectivity services.

Saleem AlBlooshi, Chief Technology Officer at du, said the collaboration will enhance customer experiences while opening new growth opportunities in emerging digital sectors.

As part of the project, du will deploy advanced indoor digitalization systems that combine existing TDD 3CC capabilities with U6G and enhanced indoor solutions. The aim is to create premium 10Gbps connectivity zones across high-traffic venues such as shopping malls, hotels, airports, exhibition centers, and landmark destinations across the UAE.

The network upgrade will also strengthen du’s broader infrastructure, covering spectrum strategy, radio access network evolution, transmission improvements, and 5G standalone core systems to ensure seamless connectivity between indoor and outdoor environments.

Beyond faster speeds, the enhanced network capabilities will allow du to explore new service models and monetization opportunities, including speed-based service tiers, enhanced uplink solutions, and premium connectivity plans tailored to specific user needs.

The partnership will also explore new use cases enabled by 5G-Advanced, particularly in sectors such as autonomous mobility and the emerging low-altitude economy, which includes technologies like drone services and robotaxi systems that require ultra-low latency, high bandwidth, and reliable real-time data transmission.

Li Jie, President of Huawei’s Wireless Network TDD Product Line, said the collaboration builds on the companies’ long-standing relationship and aims to advance intelligent network innovation.

The initiative will also incorporate AI-driven network optimization, enabling autonomous operations that improve spectrum efficiency, enhance service quality, and increase operational efficiency. Both companies also plan to integrate energy-saving technologies and intelligent power management systems to support sustainable network growth.

Why du Partnership with Huawei Matters to MENA

The collaboration highlights how the Gulf is positioning itself at the forefront of next-generation telecommunications infrastructure. As countries across the Middle East push for digital transformation, 5G-Advanced networks could become critical infrastructure for emerging sectors, such as smart cities, autonomous transportation, and drone-based logistics.

For the wider MENA region, projects like this also demonstrate how telecom operators are moving beyond basic connectivity toward experience-driven networks capable of supporting AI applications, immersive digital services, and large-scale data processing. If successfully deployed, 10Gbps-class networks could help accelerate innovation ecosystems and strengthen the region’s competitiveness in the global digital economy.
