Egypt’s Farid Academy Wins Startup Label for Edtech Innovation

Farid Academy becomes Egypt’s first edtech startup to earn the Startup Label, unlocking incentives and boosting growth in MENA’s digital education sector.

Egypt-based edtech startup Farid Academy has become the first company in its sector to receive the official “Startup Label” under Egypt’s National Startup Charter, marking a milestone for the country’s emerging education technology ecosystem.

The designation was granted by the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) following a structured evaluation aligned with Egypt’s unified startup classification framework. The label provides eligible startups with regulatory facilitation, improved access to government-backed digital services, and targeted incentives aimed at accelerating growth.

Founded in 2024 by Mahmoud Hussein, Farid Academy operates in the social-emotional learning (SEL) space, offering one-on-one coaching sessions for children and adolescents aged 3 to 18. The platform focuses on character development, mental well-being, and life skills, positioning itself as an alternative to traditional, content-heavy e-learning models.

In addition to its consumer-facing services, the company delivers certification programmes for young adults, training them in its proprietary “Farid Methodology.” The initiative aims to build a network of specialised coaches to support its long-term expansion plans.

Farid Academy has already begun regional expansion, establishing a presence in Saudi Arabia to localise its offering and build partnerships with schools and institutions across the Gulf. Its business model spans direct-to-consumer services, school integrations, and collaborations with government and non-profit organisations.

The Startup Label recognition is expected to support the company’s growth trajectory as it targets wider adoption across the Arab world.
