Egypt’s SCZONE Launches Pilot Digital One-Stop Shop for Investors

The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) has launched a pilot digital service platform to simplify and enhance the investment experience. This initiative represents the first phase of a larger effort to digitize SCZONE’s investor services, improving transparency, efficiency, and accessibility.

The new platform offers two key Investor Relations Management (CRM) services: Reception & Consultation and Investor Qualification and Project Approval. These services are designed to streamline administrative processes and make investment procedures more seamless. The pilot phase also includes one-stop-shop services, such as issuing permanent licenses under a notification system and conducting annual follow-ups for licensed establishments. Future updates will introduce additional services, including operating licenses, temporary licenses, and building permits.

This digital transformation is supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which has funded the project as part of broader efforts to modernize Egypt’s investment climate. Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairperson of SCZONE, emphasized that this initiative is part of a long-term strategy to leverage modern technology and make the company a leading global investment hub.

Mark Davis, Managing Director for the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean region at EBRD, highlighted the project’s role in revitalizing Egypt’s investment ecosystem, boosting economic growth, and attracting foreign direct investment (FDI). Tarek Sultan, Deputy Chairperson of Agility, also announced a $60 million investment in customs and logistics facilities within the SCZONE, underscoring the zone’s growing importance for international investors.

Additionally, Agility’s subsidiary, Transfora, is partnering with EBRD to launch a secure and advanced digital portal, further improving operational efficiency for businesses looking to establish themselves in the company. Daily digital skills workshops are also being conducted to equip SCZONE’s Investor Services Department staff with the necessary tools to provide world-class investor support.

The SCZONE’s strategic location and commitment to digital transformation are expected to enhance Egypt’s global competitiveness, positioning the economic zone as a key driver of long-term investment and economic growth.
