Under the deal, Judan Financial will take a 50.1% share in the Miami-based investment firm, which is known for backing major technology companies, including SpaceX, Anthropic, OpenAI, and Cerebras Systems. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
According to a statement filed with the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, the investment is expected to support the expansion of Alpha Wave’s recently launched US life insurance and retirement platform.
Judan Financial was launched last month to oversee assets exceeding AED 870 billion (approximately $237 billion). The firm is chaired by Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s National Security Adviser and chairman of IHC.
Founded as a global investment manager with a strong focus on growth technology, Alpha Wave currently manages around $29 billion in assets and operates 11 offices worldwide.
Judan said it is working to complete the remaining regulatory procedures and approvals required to finalise the transaction.
Shares of International Holding Company closed 0.4% lower at AED397.9 on Tuesday, according to exchange data, and have remained largely flat so far in 2026.
Why the IHC Unit Judan Matters to MENA
The acquisition highlights how Gulf investment groups are expanding their global influence in advanced technology and financial services. Through Alpha Wave’s portfolio, which includes major AI and deep-tech companies, Abu Dhabi gains deeper exposure to the fast-growing artificial intelligence and venture capital ecosystem.
For the wider MENA region, such deals signal a broader strategy among sovereign-backed investment groups to diversify beyond traditional sectors into AI, technology, and global asset management, strengthening the Gulf’s position as a key player in global innovation finance.
