Melbourne-based Lyrebird Health has raised $12 million in fresh funding to scale its AI-powered clinical documentation platform.
The round was led by Fire V Capital and UK’s Octopus Ventures, with support from Startmate, pushing the startup’s valuation to $50 million.
“Their early success in the UK gives us strong conviction that they’re well-positioned to scale in our local market.”
— Uthish Ranjan, Partner, Octopus Ventures
What Does Lyrebird Health Do?
Founded in early 2023 by Kai Van Lieshout and Linus Talacko, the platform uses AI to automate clinical documentation by listening to doctor-patient consultations and producing real-time medical notes.
The AI medical scribe saves clinicians 6–8 minutes per consultation, potentially freeing up hours each day.
“This administrative burden is driving talented healthcare professionals from the field at precisely the moment we need them most.”
— Kai Van Lieshout, CEO & Co-founder
With the new funding, Lyrebird Health will:
- Enhance product features and AI accuracy
- Integrate with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Expand operations to the UK and Middle East
As healthcare systems worldwide struggle with clinician burnout and documentation backlogs, Lyrebird Health is positioning its AI scribe as a scalable, time-saving solution, especially in digitally evolving regions like the Gulf.
