Morocco’s hospitality-based tech startup, Userguest, has raised €2.2 million (around $2.4 million) in seed funding. The fund will help to fuel rapid expansion and product innovation.
Al Mada Ventures led the funding round while CDG Invest and Saviu Ventures participated. UM6P Ventures, Kalys VC, Plug & Play, and esteemed business angels Philippe Limes and Thane Kuhlman were also part.
A significant portion of the funding will help improve Userguest’s sales team, allowing the company to further penetrate key markets and establish itself as a leader in direct revenue optimisation.
Founded in 2018 by Ahmed Chami, Assil Bernossi, and Hicham Benyebdri, the company specializes in helping hotels maximize direct bookings by converting website visitors into paying guests through personalized messaging and intelligent incentives.
Benyebdri emphasised that this development reflects investors’ confidence in the startup’s vision to create an automated tool that optimises conversions and revenue for hotels.
“Having solidified our market presence and earned the trust of leading hotel brands, we are now ready to elevate Morocco’s Userguest to new heights, enhancing hotel performance while enriching user experience, benefiting both hoteliers and travellers alike,” he added.
Furthermore, Chami confirmed that in addition to improving the startup’s current platform, it is also working on a product that will address a critical gap in the market.
“Our aim is to set new standards for innovation in the hotel tech space, providing tools that make it easier for hotels to generate revenue while offering better experiences for travellers,” he added.
Recently, the African hospitality sector has witnessed growth with the industry projected to reach $731.4 billion by 2032. The hotel industry is rapidly adopting technology to improve customer experience, optimise operations, and promote sustainability efforts.
As the market develops, companies like Userguest tend to leverage the trend by providing solutions that address the growing need for efficiency and innovation in the hospitality sector.
The startup currently operates in over 30 countries and has generated more than $100 million in direct revenue for hotels since 2019.
