Qcloud Expands Data Centre Operations in Qatar’s Free Zones

Qcloud has announced an expansion of its operations in Qatar’s Free Zones, reinforcing its role in the region’s digital infrastructure sector. The announcement follows a newly signed agreement between Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ) and Qcloud, formalized during Web Summit Qatar 2025. The signing was attended by Abdulla Hamad al-Binali, Acting COO at QFZ, and Zahid Saddiq, Founder and CEO of Qcloud, alongside senior officials from both organizations.

As part of the expansion, Qcloud will establish a new 300+ sq m head office in the Business Innovation Park at Ras Bufontas Free Zone, marking a significant increase from its previous 150 sq m space. The company has grown rapidly since entering QFZ in 2020, working alongside leading data center operators such as MEEZA, Quantum Switch, and Ooredoo. The new agreement aims to accelerate data center innovation, strengthen strategic partnerships, and contribute to the growth of Qatar’s digital economy.

Al-Binali highlighted that Qcloud’s expansion reflects QFZ’s commitment to enhancing Qatar’s digital infrastructure. He emphasized that through this partnership, high-performance, scalable, and energy-efficient data centres will be developed, attracting global technology enterprises to Qatar. Saddiq noted that Qcloud has benefited greatly from QFZ’s business-friendly environment and strategic support. He reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment to advancing technological innovation in both Qatar’s Free Zones and the wider market.

Qcloud’s role in driving Qatar’s digital infrastructure was further highlighted at a QFZ-hosted event, organized in collaboration with the Gulf Data Centre Association (GDCA), the largest data centre community in the Arabian Gulf. During the event, Saddiq discussed the challenges and opportunities in Qatar’s data center sector, emphasizing the importance of hybrid design models for future projects and the need to invest in sustainable energy solutions. He also commended QFZ’s dedication to developing robust power infrastructure, ensuring long-term scalability for data centers.

This expansion aligns with QFZ’s broader strategy to foster innovation and attract international businesses, positioning Qatar as a key hub for digital infrastructure in the region. With this latest move, Qcloud is set to play a pivotal role in strengthening Qatar’s data center ecosystem and supporting the country’s long-term digital transformation goals.
