The Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation (QRDI) Council has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Alchemist Doha, aimed at enhancing Qatar’s innovation ecosystem and driving economic growth. The agreement was finalized during the Web Summit Qatar 2024, with Sheikh Abdulla Bin Mubarak Al Thani representing QRDI and Ravi Belani, CEO of Alchemist Accelerator, signing on behalf of Alchemist Doha.
Eng. Omar A. Al-Ansari, Secretary General of QRDI Council, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “This strategic collaboration marks a significant milestone in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship within Qatar’s tech ecosystem.” He highlighted the MoU’s alignment with the National Development Strategy 3 (NDS-3) and Qatar National Vision 2030.
Ravi Belani expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that it will provide Alchemist Doha’s tech entrepreneurs and startups with crucial support, facilitating their integration into Qatar’s RDI ecosystem. The MoU grants these startups improved access to the private sector, leading academic institutions, and key government bodies, particularly in sectors like Biomedical and Artificial Intelligence.
In addition, the QRDI Council will offer Alchemist Doha startups access to various programs, including the Qatar Open Innovation Initiative and the Technology Development Grant. This partnership aims to create a vibrant Research, Development, and Innovation ecosystem in Qatar, reinforcing QRDI’s commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship as outlined in the QRDI 2030 Strategy.
Alchemist Doha, serving as Alchemist Accelerator’s exclusive regional hub in the MENA region, will incubate startups for 24 months, providing them with essential services and opportunities to pilot their products in the Qatar market. Startups will also be eligible for grants to collaborate with academic institutions and recruit talent from local universities.
