The technology enables customers to place items at checkout, where cameras and machine learning software identify products automatically before payment is completed. The companies said the system can complete transactions in under 30 seconds.
The first phase of deployment is scheduled to cover 50 Oasis by ADNOC stores during the second quarter of 2026, with potential expansion across the company’s wider retail network.
The rollout follows a pilot programme conducted at selected locations, where the companies reported improvements in transaction speed, customer flow, and operational efficiency during peak periods.
Eng. Bader Saeed Al Lamki, chief executive of ADNOC Distribution, said the partnership supports the company’s strategy to expand the use of AI across its retail and mobility operations. He added that the deployment of locally developed technologies aligns with the company’s broader focus on innovation and in-country value creation.
Sanad Yaghi, chief executive of DTEK.ai, said the system was developed to modernise checkout experiences through computer vision and automation technologies.
ADNOC Distribution has increasingly expanded its use of AI across different parts of its operations, including demand forecasting, supply chain optimisation, and customer experience systems.
For DTEK.ai, the partnership represents a large-scale commercial deployment of its enterprise computer vision technology within the UAE retail sector.
Why ADNOC Distribution Partnership Matters to MENA
The partnership between ADNOC Distribution and DTEK.ai reflects how AI adoption is moving beyond pilot projects into large-scale commercial deployment across the MENA region.
Retail operators across the Gulf are increasingly investing in automation, computer vision, and frictionless payment systems to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
The rollout also highlights growing demand for locally developed AI technologies in the UAE, as governments and enterprises push to strengthen domestic innovation ecosystems and position the region as a hub for applied artificial intelligence.
