Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Humain, Saudi Arabia’s flagship government-backed AI company, have announced a strategic partnership exceeding $5 billion to establish the first-of-its-kind “AI Zone” in the Kingdom.
The move positions Saudi Arabia at the forefront of global artificial intelligence infrastructure and innovation.
A Next-Generation AI Zone Powered by AWS and Humain
The AI Zone will fuse AWS’s cutting-edge cloud infrastructure with semiconductor capabilities and high-performance UltraCluster networks to support rapid AI training and inference at scale. It will offer access to the most advanced AI services, including:
- Amazon SageMaker for building and training machine learning models
- Amazon Bedrock for deploying foundation models via APIs
- Amazon Q, AWS’s generative AI assistant for business use
The initiative complements AWS’s previously announced $5.3 billion investment in a Saudi cloud infrastructure region, expected to go live in 2026. Together, these investments mark AWS’s largest strategic commitment in the MENA region to date.
Enabling a Smart Saudi Era
As part of the partnership, Humain will leverage the technology to:
- Develop AI-powered solutions for local and global enterprises
- Launch a unified marketplace for AI agents, enabling government entities to easily deploy and manage secure, domain-specific AI applications
- Advance sovereign AI capabilities across sectors including energy, finance, health, and smart cities
“We thank AWS for doubling down on their long-term partnership with the Kingdom,” said His Excellency Eng. Abdullah Alswaha, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology.
“This collaboration with Humain lays the foundation for the smart era, accelerates our innovation momentum, nurtures our talent, and reinforces Saudi Arabia’s position as a global partner of choice in the age of AI.”
Fueling Startups and Future Talent
Beyond infrastructure, the partnership also aims to:
- Strengthen the Saudi startup ecosystem
- Provide local entrepreneurs with access to AWS Activate, a global program offering credits, technical support, and mentorship
- Equip Saudi developers and founders with the tools to build scalable, AI-native businesses
With this landmark alliance, both parties are laying the digital and AI foundation for Vision 2030, ensuring Saudi Arabia plays a leading role in the global transformation driven by artificial intelligence.
