Morocco, KAOUN Launches GITEX Future Health Africa for 2026

Morocco’s Minister of Health and Social Protection, H.E. Mr. Amine Tehraoui, has officially announced the launch of GITEX Future Health Africa/Morocco — a new, high-impact initiative set to shape the future of healthcare across the continent.

This was announced during the third annual edition of the continent’s largest tech and startup event, GITEX Africa 2025.

The announcement came in partnership with KAOUN International, global organiser of GITEX events, and the Mohammed VI Foundation for Sciences and Health (FM6SS). The first edition of this landmark healthcare innovation event will take place in Casablanca from April 21–23, 2026, and will feature a major focus on GITEX DIGI_HEALTH, an initiative set to explore how AI, big data, and digital tools can transform healthcare delivery.

H.E. Tehraoui said, “GITEX Future Health Africa/Morocco embodies the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to health as a fundamental and universal human right, enshrined in our national vision for health system reform.

“Through international partnerships, strategic innovation, and shared expertise, we have a unique opportunity to co-build inclusive, resilient, and people-centered healthcare systems for the continent and beyond.”

Morocco has already carved out a reputation as one of the MENA region’s most forward-thinking countries when it comes to healthcare digitalisation. From investing in integrated health information systems to testing new AI-powered medical technologies, the country is actively building the foundations of a resilient, tech-enabled health system.

And this momentum is regional. Qatar, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia are also pushing aggressive digital health strategies — and events like GITEX Future Health are becoming valuable platforms for MENA countries to collaborate on shared priorities like healthcare access, cost reduction, and infrastructure innovation.

GITEX Future Health Africa: A Bold Agenda for Africa’s Second-Largest Healthcare Market

The African healthcare economy is expected to skyrocket to US$259 billion by 2030, becoming the second-largest in the world after the U.S. For governments across Africa and the MENA region, the pressure is on to modernize fast.

That’s where GITEX Future Health Africa/Morocco comes in. As Trixie LohMirmand, CEO of KAOUN International, put it:
“There is urgency from governments and healthcare institutions worldwide – and especially in Africa – to modernise and digitise their healthcare services to increase reach, reduce healthcare costs and deliver better patient outcomes.”

She added, “The event will prioritise public-private partnerships which are particularly instrumental in this digital mission to advance the industry productively and efficiently.”

The three-day event will kick off with a leadership summit bringing together health ministers, government leaders, CIOs, CTOs, and healthcare disruptors to dive into AI-powered diagnostics, national health records integration, data privacy, and health equity.

Alongside the summit, an international exhibition will showcase the latest in:

  • Smart hospitals
  • Imaging and diagnostics tech
  • Healthcare IT systems
  • Lab and medical equipment
  • Health infrastructure and data analytics

“As a major player in the fields of health, training, and scientific research, the Mohammed VI Foundation for Sciences and Health is committed, alongside the Ministry of Health and KAOUN International, to making Morocco a continental hub for healthtech,” the Foundation said in a statement.

“By contributing its medical and academic expertise, we aim to help shape the healthcare ecosystem of tomorrow.”

For MENA tech leaders, investors, and policymakers, GITEX Future Health Africa/Morocco is shaping up to be a must-watch. With cross-regional partnerships and AI innovation taking center stage, the road to better, more inclusive healthcare across Africa is one the Middle East is already walking alongside.
