The project was officially delivered on 21 June 2026 following the signing of the Ready for Service (RFS) certificate, marking the completion of one of MEEZA’s largest digital infrastructure projects to date.
The expansion, first announced in early 2025, forms part of a long-term agreement valued at more than QAR 350 million over a period exceeding 10 years. The additional capacity will support the hyperscaler’s cloud and digital services while reinforcing Qatar’s position as a regional hub for advanced digital infrastructure.
Completing the project ahead of its contractual deadline enables the customer to accelerate the deployment of cloud services and computing capacity at a time when demand for artificial intelligence (AI), cloud platforms, and high-performance computing continues to rise.
MEEZA also achieved a significant safety milestone during construction, recording more than 871,000 working hours without a Lost Time Incident (LTI), Medical Treatment Case (MTC), or environmental incident.
“The successful delivery of this expansion ahead of schedule reflects MEEZA’s ability to execute complex, large-scale infrastructure projects with agility, quality, precision, and the highest standards of safety,” said Mohamed Ali Al-Ghaithani, Chief Executive Officer of MEEZA.
“Completing the project nine months early demonstrates the dedication of our teams and reinforces the confidence that global technology leaders place in MEEZA as their trusted digital infrastructure partner.”
He added that the company remains committed to investing in digital infrastructure that supports Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030 while positioning the country as a preferred destination for hyperscale cloud investment.
The new capacity has been integrated into MEEZA’s data centre network, which is designed to provide high availability, resilience, scalability, and energy-efficient operations.
The facility is engineered to support mission-critical cloud workloads, AI applications, high-performance computing, and digital services for regional and international customers.
The expansion further strengthens MEEZA’s position as one of Qatar’s leading digital infrastructure providers as demand for cloud services and AI computing continues to accelerate across the Gulf.
The project also reflects broader investment across the region in hyperscale data centres, which are becoming essential infrastructure for AI development, cloud computing, digital government services, and enterprise digital transformation.
As governments and technology companies continue expanding AI capabilities, demand for high-capacity, energy-efficient data centres is expected to grow, creating new opportunities for infrastructure providers supporting the region’s digital economy.
Why MEEZA Data Center Expansion Matters to MENA
The project highlights the Gulf’s accelerating investment in hyperscale digital infrastructure as AI, cloud computing, and high-performance workloads drive demand for larger and more advanced data centres.
Delivering capacity ahead of schedule gives global cloud providers faster access to infrastructure while strengthening Qatar’s competitiveness as a regional technology hub.
For MENA, the expansion reinforces the region’s ambition to become a destination for hyperscale cloud investment and AI infrastructure.
As governments pursue digital economy strategies and sovereign AI initiatives, high-capacity data centres are becoming critical assets that support cloud services, enterprise transformation, and long-term economic diversification.
