Sharjah, Citix Partner on Smart Digital Infrastructure AI

Sharjah Investment Authority partners with Citix MENA to deploy smart digital infrastructure across key destinations, advancing the emirate’s smart city strategy.

The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has entered a strategic partnership with Citix MENA to deploy a smart digital infrastructure network across key destinations in the emirate, supporting Sharjah’s smart city and digital transformation strategy.

Under the agreement, Citix will install and operate interactive smartboard digital screens across selected public spaces managed by Shurooq. The network is designed to provide real-time information, wayfinding support, live updates, and visibility of cultural, leisure, and tourism activities.

The rollout marks one of the most significant upgrades to Sharjah’s digital urban infrastructure within Shurooq destinations to date. The smartboards will deliver dynamic content supported by analytics, offering city authorities and stakeholders new tools for public communication and engagement.

Citix, a global technology company specialising in intelligent urban infrastructure, will manage the project end to end, including installation, technical operations, and the deployment of smart-city features such as traffic updates, weather information, emergency alerts, and adaptive digital services.

The first phase will cover high-footfall locations including Al Qasba, Al Heera Beach, The Flag Island, and Khorfakkan, with further expansion planned under a long-term rollout programme.

Stepan Kasatkin, CEO of Citix MENA, said the partnership supports the company’s mission to build connected public spaces and enhance access to digital services for residents and visitors.

The initiative reflects a shared objective between Shurooq and Citix to strengthen Sharjah’s smart city infrastructure, improve public-space communication, and accelerate the adoption of digital technologies aligned with the emirate’s development plans.

Why Sharjah-Citix Partnership Matters to MENA

The deployment of smart digital infrastructure in Sharjah highlights a wider regional shift toward data-driven urban services across the Middle East. As Gulf cities compete to attract tourism, investment, and talent, intelligent street furniture and real-time digital information systems are becoming core components of smart city strategies.

For MENA governments, such projects improve urban efficiency, visitor experience, and transparency in public communication. For technology providers, they signal growing demand for scalable, analytics-backed infrastructure that bridges physical spaces and digital services across the region.
