In collaboration with The FutureList, Web Summit Qatar is set to highlight 100 of Africa’s most innovative early-stage tech founders on the international stage. Announced on December 18, 2023, this initiative underscores Web Summit Qatar’s commitment to bridging underrepresented regions with global opportunities and resources in the Middle East.

The summit is slated to run from February 26-29, 2024 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) and will expand the globally renowned Web Summit series known for its significant impact on the tech industry over the past decade.

Joining the Prestigious ranks of Web Summit events in Lisbon, Rio, Collision in Toronto, and Rise in Hong Kong that collectively attracts 140,000 attendees annually, this inaugural Doha event is set to become a landmark occasion. It will serve as a key gathering for entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders, featuring a vast lineup of speakers, networking opportunities and cutting-edge event experience.

Anticipated to attract over 7,500 attendees, the event will feature more than 600 startups, 300 investors, and numerous thought leaders and speakers. Thanks to the partnership with the State of Qatar and the Hayya card initiative, the event will be visa-free, facilitating greater inclusion of African delegates who have previously faced visa-related barriers at global Web Summit events.

The FutureList is a global platform for discovering innovation, supported by a research team and a network of Innovation Scouts located worldwide. With a strong presence in the African tech ecosystem, The FutureList has extensively engaged with founders of thousands of early-stage startups from key hubs like Lagos, Cape Town, Nairobi, and Cairo.

The 100 African startups chosen by The FutureList and approved by the Web Summit Qatar team will receive an encompassing benefits package. This includes a minimum of three three-day event passes, one-day exhibition space, eligibility for startup activation such as the PITCH competition, company branding on Web Summit platforms, exclusive access to the Startup Lounge, use of Web Summit apps for networking and scheduling, support from a startup success manager, and complimentary hotel accommodation from February 26th to 29th.
The FutureList will compile a curated list for Web Summit’s final review to determine which startups will receive these benefits. African startups interested in this opportunity can learn more and register here before January 15.
